Welcome to Whippoorwill Farm Day Camp. We are very proud of the staff we hire to work for our camp.

Our full-time staff positions require that you be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate. However, we are excited to offer limited Counselors-in-Training (CIT) positions for rising high school juniors and seniors who have attended at least one Whippoorwill Leadership Challenge session.

About the Position

As a CIT, you will work with our 6-9 year-old campers in various activities. You will be paired with a full-time staff member and supervised at all times. Your duties will include helping to lead activities, songs, and games and also sharing lunch and snack time with campers.

CITs are not campers. In our selection process, we look for mature, responsible candidates who will follow all camp rules and staff procedures and assist the Counselors in enforcing those rules. As part of your development, you will receive formal feedback from Program Directors so you can grow and learn from your summer experience. After completing a summer with us as a CIT, you may be considered for a Junior Counselor staff position or recommended to complete another summer as a CIT.

CITs are hired for a consecutive 3-week period and are required to attend staff training in May. If your school schedule does not allow you to attend staff training, you can work with the Executive Director to make up the training. While CIT positions are not paid, there are many rewards:

  • Experience 3 weeks of camp at no cost, including bus transportation

  • Receive valuable feedback which can be applied to future job opportunities
  • Obtain Child Development skills
  • Create lasting relationships with both campers and fellow staff
  • If a CPR and First Aid training course occurs during your 3-week period, you can attend the course for free

2. Submit these documents to the Whippoorwill office by March 1, 2017.

Once we receive your documents, we will contact you for an interview. There are a limited number of CIT positions available and all positions will be filled by April 1, 2017.
