For campers entering 10th or 11th grade
The first week of the program consists of leadership development and team building with an emphasis on communication and setting personal goals. The second week is spent practicing the leadership skills developed in the first week, with a service project and shadowing Whippoorwill’s full-time counselors.
The Leadership Challenge campers are given responsibilities, such as participating in sign-ups and leading songs to encourage them to step outside their comfort zone. The program also includes some favorite camp activities each day to help develop lasting relationships with each other, such as pool time or ropes activities.
Our goal is to teach skills that the campers can use at their schools, in their communities, with their families and future jobs – maybe even at Whippoorwill!
*This program is a requirement for those interested in being a junior counselor at Whippoorwill. It is highly looked upon for those who want to work at Whippoorwill once they graduate high school. Learn more about the Junior Counselor Program and working at camp.
