Job Description: Social Media Marketing Intern

Position Length: Begins September 2019-December 2019. Possibility of extension into a paid position in January 2020-May 2020.

Time Commitment: 5-10 hours per week

Compensation: This position is a non-paid internship

Reports to: Executive Director

Position Purpose:
We are in search of a Social Media Intern to help us share the Whippoorwill Farm Day Camp experience across multiple communication platforms. The intern will develop design, marketing and communication skills that will pave the way for a position at any organization.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Working under the guidance of the Executive Director, the social media Marketing Intern will design and manage the social media content for Whippoorwill Farm Day Camp. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Increase Facebook and Instagram traffic with these goals in mind:
    • Increase engagement about camp, youth development, and community events
    • Increase inquiries about our programs
    • Increase camper registration
    • Increase current family/camper engagement to grow community
  • Monitor Facebook page and collaborate on appropriate posting schedules – post multiple times per week and respond accordingly
  • Manage Social Media marketing campaigns and day-to-day activities including:
    • Curate relevant content to reach Whippoorwill youth, alumni and families.
    • Assist with creating all published content (images, video and written)
    • Curate and manage all published content (images, video and written)
  • Monitor, listen and respond to users in a way that builds community and engagement
  • Investigate and report on new/upcoming social media avenues in order to expand community outreach efforts
  • Assist in the overall design of our social marketing campaigns – align campaigns with all other marketing avenues (print, radio, in person events)
  • Understand and apply knowledge of social media analytics for the purpose of reporting on results
  • Assist in creating a year-round social media calendar that includes:
    • our newsletter communication
    • Social Media Campaigns
    • Outline of target audiences and materials that apply to them
  • Assisting with other special projects related to Marketing as needed

Competencies:

  • At least one year of related college or professional experience
  • A passion for innovation and all types of media
  • An interest in brand development and awareness
  • A passion for camp and an understanding of the impact of the camp experience
  • Proven track record of strong writing, research and presentation skills
  • Detail orientated and strong time management skills
  • Self-starter with an ability to collaborate effectively with others
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics and other social marketing analytical applications is a plus
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign is a plus
