Dear Session 1 Camp Families,
Today we made the difficult decision to cancel Session 1 (May 26-29) at Whippoorwill Farm Day Camp. We realize this is not an easy statement to hear. Please know how much we wanted to see your campers and that this is sad for us too.
We made this decision using resources from the Tennessee Department of Health, Mayor Cooper’s road map for reopening Nashville, the American Camp Association (our accrediting organization), and the Association of Camp Nurses.
We feel bringing everyone together so early during the re-opening phase leaves everyone more vulnerable. The safety of our campers, their families and our staff have and always will be our number one priority.
We will be sending you a full refund for Session 1. Refunds will be done by credit card and will be processed within a week. You will receive an updated invoice once the refund is processed. If you are registered for other sessions this summer, you will only be refunded for Session 1. We have not made decisions about the rest of the summer at this time.
As we continue to navigate the summer weeks ahead, we are exploring offering a private family day pass to camp. This would give you and your children an opportunity to catch crawdads in the creek, walk the Whippoorwill Trail, and kayak or paddleboard in Lake Yolo (among other activities). If you’d like to learn more, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We’re also posting fun resources to keep your kiddos busy this spring and summer. You can find these on our Facebook and Instagram accounts.
We will make it to the other side of this pandemic. We look forward to the future when we can all be at Whippoorwill together.
