May 11, 2020 Email:

Hello dear camp families,

We hope you are all managing the extra family time and strange world we live in. For us, the peace of the farm has helped with the ever-changing status of the pandemic.

We’re sending this email to let you know about the 2020 Whippoorwill camp season. With input from our local Health Department, the American Camp Association, and the American Camp Nurses group, we have decided to cancel sessions 1-3 (May 26-June 12). We plan to begin camp with Session 4 on June 15.

Once camp begins, you and your camper will notice that we have new safety procedures in place, including:

  • Staff and campers will have daily temperature screens and will complete a daily screening questionnaire
  • Campers will be assigned to a Den with one counselor. They will stay with this Den throughout their session to minimize the amount of contact for each person on the property.
  • Visitors will not be allowed on camp property unless they are picking up or dropping off a camper.
  • Parents will need to sign waivers and releases before camp begins.

We are asking that our camp families do their part in staying safe and healthy prior to their session at camp. We want to have summer as much, if not more than all of you, so we must be a team together to make our safety efforts work!

In the meantime, until camp begins, we are offering a Family Day Camp Pass. With the Pass, your family can visit camp and explore the wonders of Whippoorwill while being socially distanced from other families and staff. See for more details.

Also, remember to visit our Facebook and Instagram pages for fun resources to keep your kiddos busy this spring and summer.

Thank you for your support of our small family business. We’ve seen a lot in our 48 years of continuous operation, and we know we will make it to the other side of this pandemic. We look forward to the future when we can all be at Whippoorwill together again.

Happy Camping!
