Minimum Qualifications:
- Desire and ability to work with children outdoors
- Basic knowledge of cooking and the use of kitchen appliances and utensils
- Joy for cooking and creating or discovering new recipes
- Good time management and flexibility
- Ability to relate to one’s peers
- Ability to accept supervision and guidance
- Good character, integrity, and self-control
- Ability to maintain enthusiasm, positive attitude, and appearance, and interact with campers at all times
- Minimum age: 20 years old
Reports to:
Program Director and Executive Director
Description:
Create and lead basic cooking activities with campers in elementary and middle school grades. Encourage an organic cooking approach with farm to table elements.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe and clean kitchen for campers and staff
- Select or create camp-friendly recipes for campers each week appropriate to their age group
- Assemble shopping list of ingredients needed for each week and stay within designated budget
- Communicate planned kitchen activities to directors for each week
- Set up program/kitchen area prior to each camp activity period
- Safely lead campers and counselors in kitchen activities up to three periods a day
- Distribute kitchen treats made by campers to each camp by end of day
- Clean kitchen after each use
